Radioactive Waste Management

Various types of regulated radioactive materials and machines are used at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» (Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³») for research and educational purposes. The radiation safety program established at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» ensures that radioactive materials, machines, and wastes are handled in a manner that protects the health and well-being of all personnel involved.

Radioactive waste is defined as any radioactive material that is not specifically provided for by regulation. Radioactive waste can be categorized into three forms: solid waste, liquid waste, and scintillation material. Any research or educational procedure that generates radioactive waste, in any quantity, must be pre-approved before experimentation can commence.   If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) listed in the contacts pane.
