A motion was made and seconded, and the vote to approve was unanimous. Secretary Shearer regrets inadvertently omitting reference to Dr. Laynes doctorate in the last minutes. Dr. Polson gave the Presidents Report. He said that at the Univer-sity Council meeting Chief Operating Officer McCay had announced that the three percent raises which were supposed to take effect January 7th will instead take effect one pay period earlier. This is to offset the expir-ation of the payroll tax reduction set for the 31st of December unless Congress reinstates it. Pres. Polson called attention to the announcement of Dr. Ken Stackpoole as Vice President for Economic Development, replacing Dr. Cliff Bragdon, who has retired. Dr. Stackpoole will assume such responsi-bilities as Director of the 鶹ýӳ Research Park, and serve as the liaison with the Chamber of Commerce and other related groups. Next years enrollment goal for new students is in the mid-800s, or as close to this year as possible. Dr. Polson added that everyone should be working at meeting or exceeding last years retention rate. Closing his report, Pres. Polson stated that with the opening of the 鶹ýӳ Commons (across Babcock Street), the Crawford building will gain space for classrooms, and there will be classrooms on the second floor of the new building as well. Committee Reports Senator Winkelmann of the Academic Policies Committee handed out a revised version of the Student Handbooks Standards and Policies statement regarding the use of electronic devices in the classroom. Some discussion followed, with the suggestion that language referring to instructors policies be replaced by references to university policies. The amended version now reads: Electronic devices shall not be used in a manner that causes disruption in the classroom, library or within any college owned or operated facility. This includes abuse of electronic devices with photographic and audio or video recording capability. By enrolling in a class, the student agrees to abide by the universitys policies regarding the use of electronic devices, including audio/ video recording and photography, during class and for all class assignments. Using these devices for the purposes of photograph- ing test questions, or other forms of academic misconduct or ille- gal activity, is prohibited, as is photographing individuals in areas such as bathrooms or locker rooms. Taking photographs, audio and/or video recordings of any individuals against their will or without their consent is strictly prohibited. Dissemination of such materials is also prohibited. Sen. Winkelmann said this statement will be submitted to the Dean of Students. Sen. Converse, head of the Welfare Committee, raised the question of whether the $500 research and development stipend was still available to faculty members. The consensus was that this program had been suspended when raises were temporarily put on hold, and either has been or will be reinstated. Dr. Polson will ask Dr. McCay about this. There were no other committee reports. Old Business Pres. Polson brought up the Sense of the Senate statement concerning who, having what rank, should appear in the University Catalogue. The original, as it appeared in the agenda, read: The Faculty Senate proposes that the catalog listings of adjunct and affiliated faculty be discouraged, with the excep- tions of individuals with long standing association with the university and those with emeritus rank. Sec. Shearer reported that COO McCay had asked for clarification of the phrase long standing; Dr. Shearer suggested that the time period in question be five years. This met general agreement, and so the state-ment now read: The Faculty Senate proposes that the catalog listings of adjunct and affiliated faculty be discouraged, with the excep- tions of individuals with five or more years of service to the university and those with emeritus rank. This version was unanimously approved. Pres. Polson closed out the Senates involvement with Faculty Handbook revisions by noting that, after senators requests from their faculty concerning revision had gotten very little response, most depart-ments appear to be satisfied with the document as it is. There was no New Business In the Discussion session, the question of the status of the Winterim semester arose. Information on that will be forthcoming. Pres. Polson announced that the next Faculty Senate meeting will be January 10th in the new year. The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Bob Shearer, Secretary PAGE PAGE 2 #*+,>U b c s t ŵ~~~~o~c~c~WcWKhI.CJOJQJaJh~CJOJQJaJh CJOJQJaJh^hMCJOJQJaJhCJOJQJaJhMCJOJQJaJhrg*hMCJOJQJaJhrg*hMCJOJQJ\aJhOhMCJOJQJ\aJhMCJOJQJ\aJhw 2CJOJQJ\aJh?c hM5CJOJQJaJhOhM5CJOJQJaJ*+, HI 88`8gdZ{Wgdz<`gdqTgdqT`gd~`gd`gdM$a$gdMt = > ? f i s " $-.GHIwkkkkkc[c[c[hz<OJQJh}|OJQJh}|CJOJQJaJh{CJOJQJaJhqTCJOJQJaJhqT>*䴳ϴM䴳ϴ6䴳ϴղ<CJOJQJaJh CJOJQJaJh8CJOJQJaJh~h~CJH*OJQJaJhI.CJOJQJaJh~CJOJQJaJ#GRZ efW`gdI.gd{`gdMT`gdz< "'*9dVWXƺҮ}paRGGhf hZ{WOJQJh{h{CJOJQJaJhI.hI.CJOJQJaJhI.>*CJOJQJaJh{>*CJOJQJaJh|CJOJQJaJhMTCJOJQJaJhI.CJOJQJaJh{CJOJQJaJhlQ6CJOJQJaJhZ{WCJOJQJaJhZ{Wh}|CJOJQJaJhZ{WhZ{WCJOJQJaJhZ{WOJQJh}|OJQJWX 67T#*+EFMNOgh`gdz<`gdZ{W8`8gdZ{W 56STsus)*{pdhU)CJOJQJaJh}|h}|OJQJh{h{CJOJQJaJhZ{WhZ{WCJOJQJaJhKhKCJH*OJQJaJhlQ6CJOJQJaJhPCJOJQJaJhKCJOJQJaJh{OJQJhZ{WCJOJQJaJh{CJOJQJaJhf hZ{WOJQJhZ{WOJQJ& &`#$gd+Z`gd`gd}|`gdz<`gdZ{WhlQ60JmHnHuh8 h80Jjh80JUhrjhrUhhU)CJOJQJaJ`gd5 01h:p,v/ =!"#$% @@@ MNormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH f@f M Heading 3$<1$@&%5CJOJQJ\aJhmHsHtHf@f M Heading 4$<1$@&%5CJOJQJ\aJhmHsHtHDA@D Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k(No Liste@ MHTML Preformatted7 2( Px 4 #\'*.25@9!B*CJOJPJQJ^JaJph6U@6 M Hyperlink >*B*ph:>@: MTitle$a$5OJQJ\VC@"V MBody Text Indent `B*OJQJphB^@2B M Normal (Web)dd[$\$4 @B4 ,vFooter !.)@Q. ,v Page Number2*+,HI G R Z e f WX 67T#*+EFMNOgh00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000@000000000000000000000000000@0I00_@0I00_@0I00_@0I00_@0@0@0@0@0@0I00_*+,0000000 $$$'t W '!!8@0( B S ? ͫ$[fΫ[fϫd[fЫ$\fѫ[fҫd\fӫ\fԫ\fի$]fbb$$jj229*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsplace=*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceName=*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceType;*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsaddress8 *urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsCity:*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsStreet -.)G G P R U Z a T['3333333333333333333333#bc=?fi"-.
